Welcome
"Go DIG or go home!"
(submitted by Chelsea Thorson)
Hi everyone! We hope everyone had a good time at Mudfling 2010. We had a great turn out. There were just over 1300 people on the Saturday and another 500 on the Sunday. We had 56 drivers this year, and we enjoyed having each and every one of you. It was great to see our dedicated drivers that return every year, and it was great to meet the new drivers. We hope they will return for next year's event as well.
Things went along quite smoothly. We had a couple of things to deal with, but nothing we couldn't handle. The food booth was hit pretty hard, and we are working with the Air Cadets, and there will be a solution for next year's event.
We did find out that there were people that were getting in with food and beverages, even though it is clearly stated they are not allowed to be brought into the fenced in area. If you, or someone you know, happened to be one of these people, please be aware that security at the admission gate will be tighter next year, to avoid this from happening again. We hope that everyone understands that this rule in in place for good reason, and hope that everyone will respect the rules we have established.
We found that there are some changes that we need to make for next year's event, for safety reasons and some track work.
We have so many people to thank. From sponsors to volunteers - we couldn't have done it without you.
Patte Foreman did a great job take photos (as always). Please keep checking out her site at www.actionshotz.ca The pics should be up and posted soon. If you are interested in purchasing any of her pictures, please click on her contact information on her page. She does amazing work, and her pictures would make a great Christmas gift.
We would also like to mention how proud we are of the Atikokan High School Senior Automotive Class. The students, and teacher (Dave Kerr), enjoyed meeting the other drivers, and they were thrilled to be a part of the Mudfling. This was a great experience for all of us.
We are planning on having TWO Mudflings in 2011. One in June and the main Mudfling on August 6th and 7th, 2011.
Please note that there will be NO beer gardens at the JUNE 2011 event.
At this point we don't have a definite date for the June event, but it will be posted as soon as a date has been set.
The Atikokan Mudslingers would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that helped make our 2010 MUDFLING a success: Township of Atikokan Atikokan Hydro Al Dutka George Kora Doug Hampshire Norman McQuaker Don King Kevin Funk Miss Mudfling Contestants Air Cadets Dave Kerr AHS Senior Automotive Class Canadian Tire Wal-Mart J&J Sports G4S Solutions Security Shaw T.V.
